“Some valuable tips for success that have helped me would be to always stay organized and use a calendar to mark when assignments are due. In this course there are some assignments where the first half is due one day and then the remaining part is due the next day. That can get a little confusing sometimes because then that assignment leaves the “to-do list” because you finished the first half, so make sure to put in a calendar so you remember you still have the rest to do another day.
Also don’t be afraid to ask questions, that is extremely important! I know sometimes it might seem like your question is too obvious or “dumb” to ask but it never is. Any question is a great question and it shows your professor that you actually care about the quality and completion of your assignments.
Lastly, start assignments early ! You’ll be so happy with yourself when you just get a head start on them.“

“Tips I would offer to future public speaking students would be to stay on track with deadlines (the Canvas calendar is a Godsend), choose topics for speeches that you have some familiarity with (trying to learn and then inform/persuade others in such a short time will be overwhelming and puts more stress on yourself than needed), it is normal to be nervous, dedicate specific times each week for speech preparation and stick to it, your teacher is a WONDERFUL resource and wants to help you- don’t be afraid to reach out, and lastly have fun!”

“The key to succeeding in this class, in my opinion, is to be original and dive into the subjects you can select. Having a more engaging topic makes the class much more enjoyable for everyone. Additionally, it is preferable to have speech topics that you are enthusiastic about or that are relevant to your life or experiences.”
